It's not the gasoline freezing that's the problem, it's any water that's in the gasoline, which of course will freeze at, well, freezing.

Its not so much the water that may or may not be in the gas from station's tanks, but how much exposed auto gas tank wall is available for frost to form.

The lower the gas level, the greater the frost and water when gas is re introduced to the tank.


This new "melt' water now travels through the lines under the car and usually seem to catch at night on the interstate. I guess its the cold air rushing over the lines that does the trick.
