Unknown Jiffy Lube filter.
3000 miles on RedLine HP 5W30 following JL's engine clean & flush service performed by previous owner prior to sale.

Loosened soot residue was dry and flakey. Had it occurred to me, I would have checked on and likely changed the filter after 1000 miles and every 1000 after until the oil reached 5000 miles.

Replaced with Fram XG8481 and Valvoline R&P 5W30.

Did they mention how long the cleaner was in the engine for? That is some very thick soot, I think I've ever seen on here.

No, it was just stated on the paperwork. Couldn't have been too long. It was a $59 add-on at Jiffy Lube. I think it is from the PAO in the RedLine HP.

Holy 💩💩💩💩💩

That is a LOT of gunk/whatever in pleats

I'm having doubts about jiffy lube ever changing the oil filter after running a flush through the engine. Redline oils are not known to actively clean engine internals. Glad you caught a glimpse of that loaded filter and changed it.

The oil wasn't changed in that 320. My daughter had a 99 and it ran great at 300k miles. It had Mobil1 0-40 its whole life. The first 160k had 8-10k oil changes and then every 5-7k miles. All the keys broke or quit working and she was down to one metal parking lot key. I think she lost that. She ended up donating it after letting it sit for several months. It used a little oil but ran great. Smooth and solid. They were the first MB sub's and were probably the best. You've got a great suv if you can rehab it. I wouldn't run it too long on R&P because that doesn't meet the requirements for that engine. 229.5 oil will clean that engine with short OICs.
