Good morning. I am trying to research heating oil prices for the upcoming heating season here in Connecticut. I was offered a pre-buy offer of 650 gallons at $1.189 per gallon from a local fuel oil distributor. It sounds like a good price to me but I would like to hear other's opinions. Additionally, any links you could provide to give me info on this subjesct would be appreciated.

I would jump on that price! A few local companies here also have pre-purchase or "lock-in" deals. The company my father uses has the best deal...pre-pay at a locked in price now and if prices drop you get the lower price. Might want to ask them what happens if prices drop.

Department of energy stats for diesel/heating oil...

That $1.189 sounds like a good price; I just paid $1.399 cash, and that wasn't a pre-buy.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll give it a shot. If prices do go down, I still pay the same $1.18. I don't really forsee prices dropping that much though.
