Does anyone know of a good source of information or discussion about heating oil and prices? I just signed a contract to purchase 600 gallons of heating oil at $2.15 a gallon, here in Connecticut. This is the earliest I've entered into a contract of this type and I'm wondering what the speculation is out there. All comments are welcome.

My cousin lives up on the North Shore of Boston, near Essex, she just got it for 2.09/ on a 500 gallon delivery. I dunno, things look a little dicey overseas, and gasoline is tight, and refineries are having troubles, I think you did good.
let me add my contract begins June 1, 2007 and goes through May 31,2008. It is for automatic home delivery + or - 100 gallons. pay as I go. It averages to about what I paid this past year. I just wonder what oil will be next season?

Build a ground source heat pump run by a diesel engine that runs off the heating oil. The diesel will put out 40% of the oil as work, and 60% as heat. The 60% heat goes to the home. The 40% work goes to the heat pump, which has a COP of 3.5, so it pumps out 140% heat. Overall you get twice as much heat as if you just burned the oil. The system is expensive, but technologically really cool.

hold on... The engine exhaust heat comes out at 300F, and the coolant is 212F, so you can use that to heat the boiler in an ammonia cycle heat pump, and make even more low grade heat for the home.
