Headset recommendations

I need a new headset for a cordless phone. The phone has a tiny/micro combined audio-mic jack, so I'm using an adapter that allows me to utilize any computer headset with two individual mini-RCA jacks (one for headphones, one for mic), and that's fine.

Here are the requirements:
- comfortable - I'm often on long conf calls that last 2 hours.
- binaural
- good/clear microphone
- fairly small earpads (don't want something that completely covers my ears and isolates me from the world)
- not overly expensive (say under $50)

Reading through the reviews on Amazon is giving me a headache... people seem to be complaining about at least one of the areas I identified above.

My current set is a very old Plantronics unit... the pads are just about worn out... it looks similar to this:

Has anyone come across anything that fits the bill that they can recomment?

I use a Logitech G330 which I sometimes wear for a few hours. No complaints on comfort. It also has the mic/stereo jacks separate so that could work for you..

It has a good noise cancelling mic that I'm told sounds great by people on the other end.

It is a behind the head style so it doesn't even mess up your hair!

Thanks. I'm a bit worried the design of the "behind-the-head" style will interfere with my glasses, which I also need to wear at the same time. I should have mentioned that. Maybe it's a non-issue, not sure.

How about buying new ear pads from eBay?

I feel your pain. I have two Plantronics headsets that I've just worn out over 17+ years. I'm attempting to fix one where a tiny wire frayed from use. Great stuff though. Excellent sound quality. I forgot what a pain it is to hold a phone on a long conversation....

Good idea, but I can't find them. I've looked through the available Plantronics cushions and don't see ones in the same shape. Unfortunately I don't know the model number.

Just get generic ones from eBay.

They will stretch so you might get away with round ones if you pick the right size. Just measure with a ruler.

I ended up ordering a 10 pack for a few dollars. They were a little thin so I just doubled up on them and they're now more comfortable than the original.

In the same boat as you...Including reading the reviews for a landline phone headset. I have the $10 Panasonic headset out there and pad feel off. Audio is terrible and not comfortable. I think people rate stuff well based on price in the case of that one.

When you find something please post back.

In the mean time I use Skype with $3/month unlimited dialing as my computer headset is comfortable/clear/perfect audio. I spend 3-6hrs/day on phone/skype/google hangouts with work.

Not sure if this helps you any, but we use "clarity aloft" headsets in the stuntplane. They are incredibly comfortable and sound great. I believe there are some similar units for phone use. The band fits behind the head, and the earbuds simply dangle on short wires. Did I mention they are incredibly comfortable and light weight.
