Is Havoline 10w30 an SM oil? Been on their website reading data sheets and can't find a mention of SM. Is SM the latest API for dino?

SL, SJ, and all previous API "S" categories

Yes, SM is the latest. Based on the information you have, it appears that Havoline product is not SM. What does the actual bottle say?

All the Havoline bottles on the shelf where I'm located say API approved SM/SL. That's in 10w-30. Didn't look at any other Havoline grades.

Havoline 10W-30 is SM as is the 5w30

Havoline 10W-40 is SL Don't know if this is
because of old stock or what

Websites are usually outdated. Sometimes they do more harm to product sales than good in this day & age where computers are showing up in a majority of households.

I just checked the back of the bottle and it is SM. Off to Autozone to pick me up a new AC Delco air filter for my Jeep.

Chevron has a ton of technical information on the website regarding both gasoline and lubricants. But they do seem to have a problem keeping it updated.

The API Website Licensing Page indicates that the 3 main Havoline GF-4 viscosity grades, 5W-20, 5w30, and 10W-30, all have SM licenses from the period 6/15/05 thru 6/15/06.

Note to Chevron: Pull-leeeze get those Product Data Sheets updated.

Negotiating Chevron's website is analogous to walking a maze blindfolded - if you get to where ya' wanna be, it's pure dumb luck what with multiple listings often consisting of outdated material. The two links below were current as of May 5, 2005:

Latest Havoline 5W-20 & 5w30 motor oils (January 4, 2005)

Latest Havoline 10W-30 motor oil (January 14, 2005)

As near as I could find out, Havoline 10W-40 is strictly SL/GF-3

I just changed my oil and used Havoline 5w30 dino oil which was rated as SM GF4 on the bottle. I'm guessing Havolines website has not been updated, as well you might find some older stock on the shelf at retailers.
