I have been thinking about switching back to Havoline I use to run it in everthing back a few years ago when I got my first car. my dad runs it still yet
I was just wondering how it would do in my 98 S10 2.2L ive got 95K miles Ive ran syn. in the past few OC to clean it up
I drive it hard most of the time I drive stop and go mostly around town and kind of highway on the way to work 15 miles one way 5 days a week I usally put about 800 + miles on it a month
Id prob. use 5w30

u know the answer....first off "price is a factor"

Second off, it meets specs & will do fine under a normal OCI for dino. I'd say 4-5k for stop & go...

Excellent oil and will do you fine.

Here in Utah Checkers (owned by O'Reilly

) has Chevron (close to Halvoline DS) for $1.99 qt 2 case limit.

No one said you can go out and come back in for another 2 cases.

I've bought 8 cases for the stash. Other Family members have bought prob another 10-15 cases.

Take care, Bill

I used to use Havoline until fairly recently.
Everyone had to lower some additives, but in addition they lowered their moly quite a bit, and it is only an average oil now.

Havoline lowered their moly from 400+ ppm to ~200 ppm now. I don't think any other over the counter GF-4 conventional oil has as much moly as the current Havoline. If moly is yor indicator of quality oil, the Havoline is still far above average.
