Have you owned a vehicle for 15 years without internal engine problems

Yes
1995 Villager; 240k miles when sold and running great
2005 Grand Marquis; 250k miles when wrecked and sold to a family friend; bought back later and used as a beater that still runs great
2000 F-250 7.3L PSD; 280k miles and ran great when we sold it

No short OCIs or worship at the altar of a synthetic diety; nothing but routine maintenance, mostly with house brand lubes.

All the vehicles in my signature are over 15 years old and have never been opened except one. I replaced the head gasket in the F150 shortly after I purchased it in 2003 for a head gasket leak (oil in the water). I have owned all the vehicles over 15 years except the 4Runner which I purchased seven years ago. All the vehicles have experienced a plethora of oil grades and brands. Under my watch oil changes are 6,000 miles or one year.

My 98 Chevy I’ve owned since new. No internal engine issues that an oil warranty would pay for (I did replace the LIM gaskets as a precaution many years back).

Plenty of vehicles much, much older than 15 years…

That is a brilliant marketing strategy! How many of us have actually stuck to the same oil for one year, let alone 15?
I think that’s actually fairly common among non bitogers. People will follow ancestral advice to a T their whole lives. ”Grandpa said Pennzoil causes wax buildup so I only ever use Quaker state“.

2005 Corvette bought with 1025 miles and still on the original plugs and brakes at 81,000 miles. I did replace the harmonic balancer at about 72,000 miles. Going on 18 years of ownership.

The only engine I have ever had to go into was my LLY Duramax but that was an engineering failure rather than an oil problem.

- '87 Mustang GT, wrote the car off in ~2006?, sold the engine which had (IIRC) 348,000km on it, a large part of that producing ~100HP more than stock.
- '89 Town Car, gifted it to a friend with >338,000km on it (last OCI I have recorded is 2008, I bought the M5 right after gifting this car, that was 2011).
- '02 Expedition, engine was totally untouched, sold it in 2017 with 330-something thousand on it, it was still going years later, guy that bought it was local.

All of them were run on various grades of Mobil 1 for most of their life with us, though the Expedition had some heavy experimentation with other oils like Motul, Petro-Canada, AMSOIL...etc.

I had a 1972 VW bug that I got 300k miles over about 20 years. Never had a problem that was oil related. I did replace the transmission once with one I got from a junk yard. I drove that car from my home in Florida to Alaska and back twice during my ownership of it.

I haven't. 7 years was my longest. I should probably keep my cars longer than I do but i get the itch every few years. :(

Jetta is 14 years old, so almost. Those 8V VW engines are known to be really reliable, so I'm not surprised and I'm expecting the rest of the car to fall apart first. Speaking of 8V VW engines, my parents bought an '87 VW Fox brand new that ran over 20 years. I also had an '88 Fox that I bought in 2007 as a parts car that had it's original engine, still running strong. Conventional oil only on both foxes.

2006 Honda Accord bought new (hail damage) with 235 miles now with 134k.
2007 Toyota Matrix bought used at 180k now 187k.
2006 Toyota Corolla bought used 43k now at 132k.
All at 3x a year oil change synthetic DIY using sales/rebated/clearance oil.

2008 Silverado. Hasn’t been driven much in the last 5 years but doesn’t even have a tick and uses no oil on Mobil 1 5W-30. Original everything except the serpentine belt, tires and headlights. Oh and 1 windshield. 166k miles.
Keep it for a spare in case my new one breaks down. Lol

1983 Silverado, 2006 Malibu LTZ, plus various other cars all run on Pennzoil with out any engine problems. ;)
