Has anyone had the same oil analyzed at 2 different labs

for comparison purposes?

After reading the comments about my TBN results at Blackstone I decided to order some Schaeffers. The guy I talked to recommended the 5w30 for my 4cyl Accord. I plan to go 7,500 on the Schaeffers and then may send it to Terry Dyson this time instead of Blackstone.

I was thinking that the 10w30 would be the better choice but went with the recommened 5w30 to try out the Schaeffers.

I sent the same sample to Blackstone and Analysts Inc. Results on some wear metals were quite large and the TBN was significantly different. The post is somewhere in this database

I went and done looked for your old post and nofindit.

I'd like to do a THREEWAY (no NOT that kind of 3some) - then if all 3 were hosed ...
well..then...

BUT if two agree and one is in left field - ya know what I'm saying here!

We can all start testing our samples in triplicate, determining a standard deviation, and if it does not match a suffisient confidence level, resample.

I posted results from two labs back in September. Comparison is would not be accurate though as 400mi difference and different sampling technique. First was just a sampling and indicated oil was thinning so tried the second to verify low visc.

If you look at the thread here you'll see a case where I had two samples tested at three labs by the time I was done (Under topic Virgin Oil - Valvoline 10w30 SL ).

The Additive numbers seemed to vary more than you'ld like leaving no clear consensus(seemingly indicating that comparing oils to one another is not very accurate unless you know what labs did the work...)

I'm currently waiting for the results of two new samples (one virgin, one used) each of which I've sent to two labs.

I've seen a couple of reports on here where someone sent it to two different labs and unfortunately the numbers were quite a bit different.

As promised, here are the new results. I posted the results for unused Valvoline Bulk 10w30 All-Climate over here in the Unused oil section.

A sample of used oil is shown below. That oil was also Valvoline Instant Oil Change 10w30 All-Climate. But, it was something else on the change before that so there may be some residual 'other' oil in. So, you'd have to take that into consideration if you wanted to compare these results to the virgin results.

Also, the used oil was 'new' about 5 months ago, so it would probably be from a different batch than the virgin oil I just got.
