Has Amazon Ditched Their Basics Oil?

amazon could not compete with Walmart and Costco pricing on supertech and Kirkland. Its the same product.

Well... Japan has had green Lucky Star Motor oil before

Or my personal favorite, but I don't think it was green:

Not only do you have a broken product. But now you also have to clean it up. Which, with how complex their warehouse facilities are, I can only imagine what leakers can do there.
I order lots of motor oil and ATF from Amazon. Maybe 75 gallons a year. Probably >20% of it gets:
  • Leak during shipment, oily box, return to sender. Refunded.
  • Leak during shipment, delivered, identified by carrier as delivered damaged. Refunded.
  • Delivered. Identified as damaged or leaky by me. Refunded.
  • Occasionally the carrier puts the box in front of my garage door and my wife backs over it. Case of ATF explodes in the driveway and undercoats her car. Doh.
It's a pretty high-loss scenario, especially for items like Rotella T5 that don't have a foil seal under the cap, which is usually not very tight. The worst is they toss a whole case, sideways, into overpack.

Amazon is at fault most of the time.

Yeah… Moving oil is expensive. And hard. Then you just have to eat everything that goes wrong.

I get it completely. Case falls off a a dolly and breaks a quart? We just ate the case. And have to clean the mess up.

I bought it when it first came out but after that there was always a brand name oil that was cheaper on their site.

Which is interesting because all three are mega size retailers.
My speculation would be they decided motor oil wasn't a good fit for the Basics line.

I’ve never had a problem with HPL shipping, probably because they use the correct size box for the shipment and it’s taped securely.

All bets are off for shipping a 9lb fragile container in a box large enough for a small child, and toss in a 3’ length of Kraft paper and think it’s gonna survive.

They do the same dumb stuff when shipping cases of canned beverages. UPS just slings them about and kinetic energy does the rest…

Never purchased oil from Amazon. Never trusted their shipping, even when they were still using plastic air packs. Always used Walmart. Ships from the store over $35 bucks, and get it same day or next. Never had a problem using Walmart, and they run some good sales to boot.
