Hanon / Halla Branded A/C Compressor

Customer has a 2013 Elantra that needs an A/C Compressor due to oil leakage. My supplier sells a Hanon (Halla) branded unit that is listed as OEM. A google search tells me that Hanon Systems was previously related to Visteon.

Does anyone have experience with this brand? The cost is 1/2 of OE.

Well, Visteon was spun off from Motorcraft much like Delphi was spun off of Delco/Harrison. They were a large player in the automotive HVAC/electronics business.

Whether Hanon is is truly related, who knows. It could have been acquired by Visteon at some point, but at the end of the day an AC compressor is an AC compressor. I feel your pain, however. Like many other parts on the market, AC compressors have been overrun by Chinese replica's and it's become very hard to justify spending 2x the price on an "OEM" compressor. Sometimes, there's no choice. That being said, I have yet to be burned by an aftermarket compressor. Knock on wood. I wish I could say the same about starters and alternators...

I never heard of them but I have used Behr/Hella and have been well satisfied with them.
