A wealthy gentleman was badly bitten by bugs while riding on a certain railway line. Arriving at his destination, he wrote the company an indignant letter and received a prompt reply from the president of the railway.

It was, said the letter, the first complaint the company had ever had of this nature. Inquiry had failed to reveal any explanation for this unprecedented occurrence. Nevertheless, a number of new precautions were being taken to make absolutely certain such an unfortunate incident never happened again.

The gentleman was well satisfied with this reply and thought,"This is why this guy rose to the top, he cares about customers, he took the time and effort to read my complaint and respond."

As he was returning the letter to the envelope, a slip of paper fell out onto the floor. The hastily scribbled note on it read: "Send this guy the bug letter."

I actually read a version of this is a sports column a few years ago. A baseball writer who rode the rails claimed he had received such a letter.

The difference was that he found the scribbled note years later when he was browsing his files.

Google bed bug letter and you'll find different forms.

You never heard that before? Even if you heard a story or joke or whatever....."You made that up!" (I figured the aussie never heard it before, maybe not on the east coast either)

On a similar note:

In my Marketing class in HS one of our assignments was to write a complaint letter to a company that we had purchased a faulty product from. Approx 5 out of 30 people in our class wrote to the local Coca-Cola bottler to complain about flat cans of soda encountered inside of 12/24 pack purchases.

Receiving approx 20 letters in one week (multiple class assignments) the local Coca-Cola bottling manager was about to shut his bottling line down thinking that there was some sort of quality control problem. The thing was, the HS kids, with almost no purchasing under their belts, were reporting on years old issues.

Kind of funny how things like that work sometimes.
