My condolences at the loss of your beloved pet. I had to end the life of my 17 yr old Ragdoll last year due to old age. She was a great kitty-buddy.

55, so very sorry to hear this. Back in 07 I had to put my 9.5 year old dog down due to a brain tumor. His back legs went limp and he just howled in pain, went blind in one eye, loss his balance, the works. Vet said classic brain tumor symptoms. Horrible! But when he'd see us, he'd still try to get up and walk to us. Game as heck pitbull. He gave me more than I did him. You did the right thing, mercy. Unfotunately it's the worse part about having pets. I totally feel your pain.

For some reason that thread makes it alittle easier for me why I am not sure amazing what you can learn in the most unusal places!! Yes my guy was no longer a dog he could not stand too long I held on to him, But it was April and nothings is still less painful. Part of owning a pet I guess. Thanks !!

Pets rely on us to care for them, that care includes making the right decision about their suffering.

You're not the only one. It scares me to think of loosing my two dogs.

55, very sorry to hear about this. You did the right thing, tho!

So sorry to hear this. We love out cat (the only one we have ever had), and I cant bear to think of this being the case at some point...

Very sorry to hear that, 55. That was tough, no doubt. My lil' buddy cat died on my lap from old age two months ago. None of that "Went quietly while sleeping" thing -- it wasn't quick or painless for her at all. It's never easy...

I will most likely go through this in a few months also. I found out a few weeks ago that my 15 yr old gray tabby has nasal cancer. For now he's eating and drinking and on doxycyclene (Antibiotic) as well as omega 3 fish oil and flax seed oil to help with inflammation, he has what looks like a sore below his left eye. He's still active and playful and I try to give him the best quality of life for as long as he has left.

My condolences on your loss. I've had to do the same for far too many pets in the past, and while time will help, the loss never fully heals.

Sorry to hear that. I own two cats and love them to death. Earlier this year my 17 year old cat died =[ I've lived around cats my entire life and to me they are like people. They are a living breathing life so I treat them like a person, not "the animals they are"

Sorry to hear that, very hard to do.

I'll never forget the last lick one of our cats gave me while she hugged me around the neck as the shot was admistered. Was an experience I Pray I'll never have to do again. Actually I think she thanked me, she was 20 years old.

That had to be a very very very emotional time.
