Had to buy a battery today.

I work at Advance Auto Parts. Our Diehard brand batteries are JCI/Clarios. Some of the AGMs, I want to say H6s or H8s we've gotten lately have been made in China. Identical to all the others except for the "Made in China" stamp on top. I'm Eastern US, BTW.

This is the dead battery. What's this tag tell us? Also from Korea.

Certainly possible but wouldn't walmart then have a JC serial number on it? There supplier in that case would be JCI / Clarios.

I know people have gotten "clarios" varta AGM's from walmart in the past - that were coded as serial JC. They also had Mexican batteries which were from their joint venture there at one point.
I've noticed over the past two years or so, that all the AGMs from Interstate/Costco and WalMart would alternate with countries of origin all the time based on the latest shipment, Korea, Germany, USA, Mexico...now China. In the Pacific NW, I see Walmarts are now consistently all Korean made for the past year. Costco/Interstate AGMs seems to still fluctuate... last few months I see China and Mexico in the stores in the PNW. I only pay attention to the AGMs as that is all I buy the past 7 or 8 years. AC/Delco AGMs seem to all be Korean now...previously they were German/Varta.

I was in Costco today and the H6 and H7 were made in Mexico. The H9s were made in Korea. The other sizes didn't have easily visible stickers to say where they were made.

I picked up a Walmart EverStart AGM the other day and it had an EP serial. Maybe I got lucky and got the last EP made EverStart.

Just had to buy a batteries for the following:
*2012 Tundra that was a Deka Intimigator 34R installed about 10 years ago
*Wife's 2020 Pilot Touring OEM AGM that was replaced a year ago under warranty.

Replacing both with Odyssey AGM's from NAPA. NAPA had the best prices and offers AAA Discount.

I try to buy East Penn or Deka if they are available. Last purchased a Deka for my Honda from Ace Hardware, oddly enough.
I just bought a couple of Deka golds from family farm and home. The warranty was only 2 yrs but both batteries tested 100% as opposed to a rack of ac delcos at menards that didn’t. The Menards batteries were made in Korea but I didn’t recognize the serial#, so they weren’t east penn or clarion.

What year Sentra?
I killed the battery on our 2019 by leaving the trunk slightly open for a week. It won't shut the trunk light off and just let it stay on forever.

I found using these an eye opener. My Walmart one year for $50 plus tax etc back then is still strong at four years. I use a maintainer to charge the batteries if needed.

I've been using something similar for about four years now. Less than half the cost ($13) and the app is free as well.

Only trends data for 15 days, but seem adequate. The cranking test with each start is probably the most useful feature. Gives you a good indication of battery strength. I have it on my Ferrari where accessing the battery in a compartment in the footwell is somewhat difficult. This monitor saves me the time and trouble to get out tools to open the compartment, test and then seal it all back up. Basically I can easily check battery health on every drive. Or check charge status anytime I am within bluetooth range.

Everyone will have a different level of tolerance or concern, and make their own decisions, but be aware that such loggers track more than your battery condition.
It is well known (discussed on BITOG a couple years ago with the same story links), I simply turn off the location services in the app. But be aware, the reason for it, is for the parking location services. Check the Amazon link and it shows the parking location feature. It is a feature to allow you to find your car in a parking lot. Again, just turn it off.

The version of the app I have does not have the parking feature (BM2) which was reviewed in your links, I immediately turned of the location feature. But because some of the apps don't utilize the parking feature, yet it is imbedded in the software, computer nerds immediately thought of something nefarious. Heck, maybe it is....I'm not a computer guy...I figure with it off, it can be no worse than the dozens of other apps on my phone and car.
