Mother in law went to leave and her Sentra just clicked. The battery that was in the car was a 1 year from Walmart that's probably 3 yrs old.

Only place open with a decent but still over priced battery was Walmart. Got the $145+$2 state tax+. $12 core everstart with 640 CCA.

Made in south Korea. Can't be any worse that the other options.

Curious why you didn't just get another 1yr battery from them given it appears she got 3 years out of the previous item.

South Korea? Did you happen to notice the serial number? Interested in the first couple letters - it typically signifies the manufacturer.

I bought 4 of those that year and only this one made it past the 1 year warranty. Also the car calls for 600 CCA but the 1 year is only 475 CCA. The one I got is 640 CCA

Here ya go. What's it telling us?

Well thats interesting. Serial starting JC is Johnson Controls (now Clarios), and EP is East Penn.

Some google foo tells me that DNA is maybe South Korean car battery manufacture DN Automotive - maybe - if I had to guess? I have never heard of them, but that aligns? I have never seen a walmart battery made by anyone other than the two US based companies.

I have only seen the Korean made ones at Walmart here for at least 2 years.

So if they have been around 2 years, then I would have to assume its cheap enough to ship them by container from South Korea to the West Coast.

All 3 I bought here on the East Coast a year ago were Clarios / JCI - they still say made in USA.

Walmart is where I purchase all my automotive batteries there batteries are made by the same suppliers as all the auto parts stores $70.00 or so cheaper for the same battery.

Most will be coming from Korea/China shorty- barring Tariff issues.

Walmart is again caring less about where it’s made, and more about price again.

Sams Club sells Duracell car batteries that seem to be decent. Can't remember who makes them, but they are Made in USA.

By law it can't be. It must be primary components / value coming from country of origin. Contrary to popular belief, you can't just do the last 10% somewhere and call it made there.
Maybe you don't understand that not everyone sticks to the laws lol. China especially, I could see a China backed Korean company trying to pull this. Especially when looking to the near future tariffs.

I have worked in manufacturing for decades and I understand very, very well. If they did this and were caught, everyone in the value chain would be in big trouble and have to pay big fines. As the importer you accept the import documentation indicting primary manufacture country of origin, and all kinds of other things, like conflict minerals.

So while I would believe the CCP would do anything, I doubt walmart would, and I am guessing they know a thing or two about import.
