This past Wednesday, 12/9, I got the surgery I've been waiting for. Yesterday, I was a little groggy, today I feel fine. The aneurysm was small, 5mm, but had a wide neck, so they went with a stent to redirect blood flow past it. I'm kind of glad, since I wasn't very enthusiastic about the coiling idea.
This was an endovascular procedure, i.e., through the femoral artery, so recovery is quick. I'm not supposed to lift over 10 lbs. or so for a week, and then I should be able to do normal stuff. This isn't for the sake of the aneurysm, but rather the closure on the artery. So at least if my wife asks me to hand her her purse, I can tell her to get it herself.
I'll have to have a couple, or maybe a few, angiograms to see how things are going over the next year or two, and I'll have to take aspirin for the rest of my life, but I'm cool with that.
