guys over 50 doing maintenance

I'm very physically fit and very particular when it comes to maintenance and upkeep.

My problem is I own a dealership. Whatever I do at this point, I don't get that feeling of completion because there's always something else that needs to be tending to.

So I'm reserving my DIY activities for my kid's cars. The rest? I leave to the professionals.

I purchased a complete set of Metrinch back in the early 90s and still use them today...It is my go to set as it fits any type of bolt...SAE or Metric also with the way it grabs the bolt even a rounded off bolt can be removed....
I did the same thing and my set is my most used set of sockets. I later bought the 76-piece set as a backup but hardly use it because my original 48-piece set keeps on working. I later bought the bit drivers that make up the 62-piece set and a new case that holds them all.

My current case has a broken latch and the Metrinch website is out of stock and no one answers emails or the phone so I don't know if they are still in business or not. They supposedly came out with an updated case but it's on backorder so you can't order one.

They are great tools but it seems that there is no customer service any longer.

I'm 31 so can't comment here other than to say I have been lifting weights and cycling since 15; and so should everyone else.

I have a mobile mechanic who I use sometimes as I am time poor. He's pushing 80, looks good; and could work on a car for a full day.

Don't let your body go - and if you have let it go, you can bring it back. It just takes some willpower!

S0-can he make as much money as he wants even though he is getting some form of retirement from the government?

58 YO.
I do all the maintenance, brakes, minor repairs on my 3 cars and my wife’s car. Oil changes for sibling and mom.
Similar complaints as others about soreness and arthritis in hands, sometimes elbows.
Biggest issue is something that started a few years ago. I get nauseous if I’m under a vehicle. Sometimes even setting up the jack and jackstands makes me vomit. Working over the top of the engine, or sitting on a milk crate doing brakes, I’m fine.
Once I’m on my back, I get sick. Really sucks. I found a local shop that rents out lifts for $25 an hour. Did that for recent trans and diff fluid changes. It seems if I’m standing, I don’t get sick as long as I don’t stare up for too long.
Went to PT and makes me throw up every time. So I stopped going.

Just fell over this related meme ...

I expect so. The Canadian OAS is only age dependent. And if you make too much money by some combination of working, pensions or investment income they "claw back" some (or even a lot) of it.

It becomes a badge of honour how much the government is clawing back!

Once you hit full retirement age in the USA, you can earn as much money as you want without it affecting your social security benefits.

That is exactly what the wife is doing. She is lucky. Opposite of me. We used to joke at work "Sam can't even win a random drug test!"
I say lucky as she has no real heath issues. I can count on one hand in near 50 yrs we been together the times she has been sick. She is one of those "ever ready bunnies." Full of nervous energy, can not keep still and plans to keep working (ex-dietician who went back to college and became a teacher 29 years ago) as long as she feels good enough doing it. This is year one of her drawing social security. She started just a few months ago. I just did our taxes and it barely affected us.
