I am just wondering if beside the PEA, the regane also contains octane booster ?

I have tried Redline SI-1, STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner, Seafoam and onlyRegane give real butt-dyno boost on power and eliminate ping.
However the fuel consumption drops, that is normally typical for my car when the ECU compensates of the high octane fuel.

When I finish the tank with regane, and fill up with just standard gas, the power seems lacking. It comes back after put in another half bottle of regane.

Any idea to confirm the content ?

interesting note. I suppose if youhad a scangauge, you could see if there are any timing variations between using one vs. the other, on the same course. Tough to replicate though...

It very well could have a carrier that slightly bumps octane, no reason why this couldnt be the case - seems unlikely, and without real analytical work, it would all be hearsay anyway.

I have no interest in confirming the content of your butt dyno

butt properly adjusting the seat lumbar support is good for 4-5 horsepower and about 1.7% improvement in fuel mileage, and depending on the type or brand of seat cover you use (if you use them), you may either gain or lose power and mileage.

I noticed the Regane works, well, noticeably. My fiance and I bought two cans at Walmart, one for her well-used Escort and one for my LeSabre. Put them in on half tanks (well, yeah the tank on the Escort is 2/3 the size of the tank on the LeSabre, 6 gallons in her tank vs. ~9 gallons in my tank), and a day later her car was abnormally smooth and vibration-free. This went away when she filled the tank later on in the week, diluting the Regane. My car was a little bit smoother idling, and half of that half tank is still sitting in my car after a 2.5 hour highway run last weekend. No apparent change in mileage, and the car was idling pretty smoothly to begin with.

The different butt dynos are giving different experiences. Sounds like they need calibration.

If a computer compensates for high octane fuel, it increases the spark advance, and better power and economy would result, not less.
Actually, it is only giving what it is designed to give/supposed to give, without the knock sensor stealing spark advance. So look elsewhere for hows and whys.

High octane fuel is not more powerful inherently - it is simply more resistant to ignition.

I would say the same thing the other way around: The computer compensates for low octane fuel by retarding spark advance. I would say it this way because there is usually a maximum spark advance, and the computer retards it from there, rather than there being a normal, or typical, spark advance that gets increased in the presence of high octane fuel. In many cars, the max advance occurs even with regular fuel. In these cars, the computer won’t increase the advance any further, even in the presence of high-octane fuel. This is why premium fuel is a waste of money for these cars.

Knocking will, of course, cause the computer to retard timing, and obviously there can be more knocking with low octane fuel. In this case, higher octane fuel will allow the computer to stop retarding the timing (because the fuel is more resistant to pre-ignition and knocks less) and move back towards whatever max advance is programmed in. This gives the impression of advancing the timing, but what is really happening is that the computer is no longer retarding the timing.

If you can reduce knocking, then the computer can stop retarding the timing. Perhaps the effect that Regane has is to reduce knocking by reducing carbon deposit induced hot spots in the cylinders. Since high octane fuel also reduces knocking, it could appear as though Regane has an octane booster in it. In both cases, the computer would compensate by no longer retarding the timing.

To the original poster: you mention “When I finish the tank with regane, and fill up with just standard gas, the power seems lacking. It comes back after put in another half bottle of regane.” What would happen if you filled up with premium gas? If the power comes back, then you know you are pinging, either due to the fuel or deposits.

What i meant standard gas is still high octane fuel (same fuel i used when i used when i put in regane the first time) but I did not put the regane.

I am not sure what causes the pinging, because before i run regane, i have been on redline, seafoam and stp one after the other and the pinging stops after i put regane.

I am just wondering if the jet fuel used as the filler on regane is the avgas and not the avtur (kerosene type like the one used in stp)

You probably got some UCL action from the carrier. There are probably different properties to different treatments. I don't have any bona fide proof, but ..for example, I got good knock reduction with Seafoam ..but saw substantial drivability improvements (a 70's term for performance in 8.5 compression engines after decades of muscle cars) with Regane and later Amsoil PI.

Again, that's just reconstructing effects with usage in my head. I never got anything other than knock reduction with Seafoam.

I think the carrier oil (kero, maybe) contributes to some ULC action and may alter "feel" while the product is being applied. It's probably factored in to give you immediate gratification.

Oh, OK. By “standard gas” I thought you meant regular, rather than premium.

If the carrier were jet fuel, or other high octane fuel, I doubt there would be enough of it in one little bottle to make a difference. If you added 12 oz of premium to a tank full of regular, it wouldn’t make any difference at all.

If there is some effect like this, it would have to be caused by an octane enhancer (I’m dropping the name now, what is it, MTBE or something like that) or some sort of UCL effect that Gary mentions.

My favorite thing! Immediate gratification!
