Im in Ace Hardware right now and they have Gumout Fuel System Cleaner in a clear 6 oz bottle. Couldn't fid anything in search but is this the same as Gumout Regane? It's just hit the shelves and they've got a special, thinking of 3 bottles. Thanks!

I think their "All In One" is similar to Regane.I think the regular stuff is not as good.Should be cheaper pricing too.

There's no mentioning of Regane on it by the way - just complete fuel system cleaner.

You are correct, or it's such a small amount that it's insignificant.

Gumont Regane...can be purchased at WalMart. Regane 'All in One' is at my Big Lots....at $4....and for most vehicles....can be used twice,

Be sure you purchase the 'Regane' as it has the most PEA in it. The 'High Mileage' has even a little more.

Regane has PEA? The MSDS does not confirm that. Personally, I would not assume it has PEA, especially since it is a more expensive, synthetic solvent than the cheaper solvents available. If anything, I'd assume they went the cheap route and eliminated anything more expensive from the mix unless they specifically state otherwise -- that would seem more logical.

I’m DYING to know where this statement originated from, especially since I’ve seen all the Gumout MSDSs going back 10 years. If this comment is what I think it is, disinformation like this is what drives people from message boards in frustration…

I'm skeptical after using Regane several times. I've only had Redline fuel cleaner actually make any noticeable difference, which eliminated pinging in my truck after 1 bottle.

Here is one from '04. Regane has PEA. First they started listing it as "proprietary additives". They now seem to be listing only the items required by law.

Misinformation includes suggesting that facts are false without taking the time to know what you are writing about.

Thanks for posting that, GMorg. I’ve seen those too – Gumout MSDSs from a decade ago and longer are still buried in corners of the Net. Over the past 5-10 years, the Regane and other Gumout “fuel cleaner” MSDSs have steadily revealed less and less information to the point where they now say basically nothing. If I recall correctly, that 2004 MSDS you found may have been around the last one that revealed PEA, a more expensive synthetic solvent. So, unless others know something we don’t, “Regane has PEA” comments may be based on documents that are almost a decade old. And their formulations have almost certainly changed over that time since they’ve mostly gone to the small “concentrated” bottles, so we simply don’t know what’s in them these days.

That said, I wish I had chilled out on my earlier “disinformation” comment: Your comments reminded me that the post I was referring to may have legitimately referenced an authentic document (and not borne from rumor or opinion), and honestly presented…..just based on an MSDS that’s almost a decade old and likely invalid.

Regane is a CURRENT registered Trademark for a "Gasoline Additive with Cleaning and Knock Suppressant Properties." It is a detergent, a polyether amine (PEA). There are many PEAs, they are necessarily the same between companies.

The full record of the registration is available below. It is not very informative, but it does document the history and maintenance of the Trademark. Gumout products can change at the whim of SOPUS. However, Regane is an ingredient. If the bottle says, "with Regane" it contains the Trademarked, proprietary ingredient.

MSDS are safety documents. They are not recipes or formulations. As long as we have a system that allows companies to maintain secrecy around proprietary ingredients, we cannot know what they are trying to sell to us. If you don't trust a supplier, don't buy their product. However, I can't identify a reason to suggest that Regane (or Techron for that matter) has reduced detergent content just because these products have stopped listing PEA percentages on the MSDS.

Look close. Those bottles probably are REGANE - the ones I see at auto parts stores near the counter are.
The small bottles are a rip, usually. But a sale makes them palatable.
