Guidelines for TAN readings?

All,

I have a pretty good idea of what constitutes good, bad, or mediocre TBN numbers commonly reported in used oil analysis for engines. But what about some guidelines for the TAN numbers usually reported in analysis results on ATF or gear lube? I know lower numbers for TAN results are better, but how high can this number be before it gets in the "caution" range? What are the guidelines for great/good/fair/poor TAN readings?

WearCheck uses a cutoff of 3.5 for TAN in gasoline engines. Some other labs say the oil is done when TAN is 5. This is for crankcase oil. For other lubes call the lab.
