Does not seem a lot of selection unless I go over $300. O'Reilly is $208. About the only one under $300. Any idea who makes it. Looks identical to a West Marine one that is made by East Penn.

Other sources?

Ok. After reading posts here and a boating forum I will go with a Walmart flooded 27M.

Get the largest battery that fits your battery compartment. See if you can fit a grp 31 battery. Larger batterys last longer on and off the water. Agms can last longer with no maintaince and no battery acid spills.

That does not mean it was the best choice either.

A Odyssey battery or Northstar AGM battery are extremely well built. With legitimate warranty to back them up.

A group 24f battery typically weighs 42-44 pounds... A Northstar AGM X-2 battery weighs 57 pounds. Exact same size and footprint. Has a 5 year free replacement warranty through Batteries Plus.

Having said that.... The East Penn made battery from Walmart was $48 and it actually was the 624fmf battery which was a very good battery for that money. Only 1 yr free replacement warranty but other places that same exact battery had a 3 year free replacement warranty.

I might go for an Odessey battery but when one multiplies the cost by 3 batteries I need its all of a sudden a $1000 investment.

Someone also mentioned to check the on-board charger to see if it handles AGM.

OK, then go for the largest batteries that will your battery compartment will accomodate . 14 yrs on my grp 31 optima agm and no maintainance. Whatever you do, go big on the batteries. That's what we do....we fish a, little, down here, you know.
