+1,

And also do a very good inspection of the block surface that the head gasket goes against. Be sure to look for any slight erosion from fluid flowing between the gasket and the block. If even a small erosion channel has formed the new head gasket will probably leak in the same spot in a short amount of time.

I'm betting that what he sees as over-heating is the exhaust gas pressurizing the coolant with enough pressure that it causes radiator caps pressure release to open. With the cold temperatures recently in NY real over-heating is not likely. Exhaust gas out the radiator cap is much more likely.

I'm going off what the coolant temp. gauge is telling me. I do see some gasses escaping the radiator with the cap off, though.

I haven't driven the vehicle in a while. Been using my moms.
