I'd like some opinions on the maintenance regimen on two mowers I use at work. The one I use is a 2013 model Pro Turn 260 with a 29 hp EFI Kohler (ECV 749) It has 931 hours as of today and runs great. The other mower that my coworker uses is I think a 2015 model Pro Turn 460 that also has a 29 hp Kohler, different model number that I cant remember. It has 190 hours as of today and also runs great but burns a little oil, smokes a huge puff on cold starts and the local dealer never took care of the problem. We add oil as needed. Kohler calls for 100 hr oil changes and 200 hr filter changes, not sure what Gravely recommends, but we do the oil and filter changes every 50 hrs, these mowers are used every day in very dusty conditions and are run full throttle for 3-4 hours a time. I started working there when the 260 w had 864 hours, not sure how well it was taken care of before, not very good it looks like. My engine calls for 10W30, my coworkers one calls for 10W30 up to 20W50, weve been using some rotella 15W40 we had at the shop and were now using Kawasaki 20W50 in both. Should the 20W50 be ok in the 260 even though it specs only 10W30? Also we have been using the kohler 52-050-02 oil filters, which crosses to a Wix WL 10068. We have a baldwin dealer, the Wix crosses to a Baldwin BT223, but the kohler oem filter does not cross to it. So is the BT 223 the correct filter? Air filter gets changed every 100 hours. So should we keep the intervals at 50 hours or extend them to 100 hrs?
