First riding mower; Husqvarna with Kawasaki

Just today I bought a new mower with that same Kawasaki FR651V engine. The dealer gave me a genuine Kawasaki oil filter - part number 49065-0736. It's a very short filter.

I run Rotella 15W-40 in my power equipment, motorcycles, tractors - for more than 40 years.

What I really want is an oil filter alternative.

Anyone ?

I run the fram ultra, or the tough guard. The 3614 is the same length as your kawa filter. The 3600 is longer, I run the 3600 on my fr651v

I have a 3614 on the shelf. It's quite a bit longer than the Kawasaki filter. I ran those on my (previous) riding mower with the Kohler engine.

I'm guessing it uses a 3/4-16 thread? I'll check that number with Wix and see what shows up.
...
Yes, 49065-0736 crosses to Wix 57035 with a 3/4-16 thread. I use plenty of filters with that thread.

51394 / PH4697 is very common but definitely smaller than the 3600.
51516 / PH3600 size is a good pick if it'll fit.
51393 / PH2870A is a common VW Audi filter that's marginally "bigger" and probably my personal fav.

If you have room any 3614 filter will fit or Wix 51348. I just put a Carquest Premium 85348 on my Kawasaki FR600V.

Because I live in the Deep South, I use Kawasaki 20w-50 with Kawasaki 721 filter on my Bad Boy Maverick HD with Kawasaki FX691V.

I'm going to have to go with @SilentType on this one. John Deere recommends (and supplies) Turf Gard 10w-30 in their maintenance kits for ALL lawn mower engines aside from the Yanmar diesels: they get Plus 50 II 10w-30. We regularly see temps above 86 degrees here in the summer, and I've not seen a single failure that could be definitively attributed to oil viscosity.
85F in WI is like a spring day in the south and southwest. High 90's and low 100's here in TX. don't think 30 would cut it in the summer here

I'm using a Purolator Red can filter, PN L14459 on my FR651V. It's just slightly longer and larger in diameter than the stock filter and alot cheaper. Good efficiency of 96.5 @ 20 microns for a basic filter. A Purolator ONE would be a step up if wanted.
