Grammar police, pet peeve.

Our English language is being massacred.
Too lazy to even move their tongues properly.
Example, then vs than. Easier to pronounce then. Compare them when speaking normally.
I don't know about you but I find then seems to take a little less effort. Then again, some people don't have a clue that there's even a difference. A lack of reading and writing skills perhaps. Cheers.

It's not as fast as my Chevy Camero.

Camero is mah favorite with Odddddyesey second

At one of the manufacturing plants I worked at, we had a long wall that was covered with pictures of dozens of car models that we supplied parts for. One of the pictures was clearly labeled as a "Chevrolet Camero".

It made me cringe every time I walked past it, thinking that this mistake could be made, and continue to hang on the wall, in a plant that was exclusively a tier I / Tier II automotive supplier. I wanted to track down the customer relations rep that was responsible for Chevrolet, and point it out. But I didn't feel it was my place, as the small division that I worked in was actually a guest in the plant. A division without a country, if you will.

Wow's there's been an abundance in the usage's of apostrophe's in BITOG lately. Mostly with plural word's. Some attempts at possessive's. But many seemingly randomly hucked into headers and post's.

Some can be tough, I get that. When Miss Simpson was yelling at me in 3rd grade, I didn't want to pay attention either.

NO I am not perfect, I am blind and don't proof read. Well mainly I don't slow down.

This MAY help.

I find it interesting that my phone's auto-correct feature only knows the contraction it's and corrects the pronoun its to the contraction it's. If I turn auto-correct off I type horrible gobbledygook. I can't win.

I didn't go through this entire thread but did anybody notice the title?
The P in Grammar Police should be capitalized!
Ex: Chicago Police Department, etc.

Gotta design a Grammar Police badge.

*Respectively disagree. Grammar is capitalized because it begins the sentence. So, it should be grammar police in the middle of a sentence. Same as city police as compared to Chicago Police Department.

My pet peeve is people who say that when they mean who. As in "people that say that."

*Wrong word is deliberate as another example of carelessness often seen in writing.

I don't think I have a pet peeve regarding grammar . I have bigger things to be concerned about .

Yes, but only by those certificated to do so.
Re vavavroom's post #102: "Bye" in Italian is spelled CIAO (pronounced 'chow').
Re post #133: I have always thought some sense of propriety made people say ashphalt because asphalt has the word A$$ in it.

We haven't gone to the LIBERRY in this thread.

We have clients and contractors who call it ashphalt. These are guys who theoretically should know better!

"We'll be placing ashphalt in the south parking lot tomorrow".

Ya'll come on down to Louisiana and you'll find plenty of things to get triggered about . You just learn not to care about such things . As long as you can follow someone in a conversation , you don't even worry about it .
