The DOHC I4 suffered from oil related timimg chain and timing chain tensioner issues so it is important to clean this engine ASAP and keep it clean. Other then the timing chain and tensioner issues they where a good engine. This is why I would use Auto-Rx ASAP and after i did the clean and flush I would use nothing but synthetic of your choice PP,M1 what ever.....I think these engines preffered 10W30 over 5W30 if I remember right?
Thanks for the advice. The car calls for 5w30 but I could always try a 10w30 for the next change.
I never used Auto-RX but it seems like some good stuff. But do you really think it's necessary for this engine at only 43k? If so, I will pay the money. I'm just saying right now the engine sounds and feels plenty healthy.
