Got some OESpectrum Monroe shocks and I am shocked.

Two weeks ago I put Monroe quick struts on the front of my 2017 Ford Fusion. So far there great compared to the Duralast struts I had put on 2 years ago. They rattled light crazy. My 2007 Fusion has Monroe struts that I put on 3-4 years and they have been excellent as well.

I've been a Monroe fan. I don't have a ton of other brands to compare since they have a good chunk of the aftermarket for shocks but I've used several of their different name lineups like "SensaTracs" or "Magnums" which don't see them much today.

Found this current comparison on their website:

Thought they used to do "Lifetime Warranty" on OE but looks like 5 years now. It does appear that this must be the replacement for the old "Sensa-Tracs" & are their top offering for OE replacements.

I’ve used them on 3 of my vehicles and they haven’t let me down. The Corolla has had them for over 50k miles now, the Focus got rear shocks only and they are about 10k miles and the Pathfinder for shocks and struts about 500 miles ago. All of them made in USA and all them of ride well. I’m not sure if KYB aftermarket is worth the pedestal / they are placed on.

I just heard Monroe is closing their Paragould plant. Been there a long time. Outsourcing overseas is the word. Employees notified this morning.
Just like the steel mills they will profit themselves out of business.
I think we the public should be held just as responsible.
The Japanese and Koreans and somewhat Scandinavians are INCREDIBLY loyal to domestic brands. Food, furniture, electronics, supplies, parts. Its painful but they understand the upside.

I'm surprised by the positive Monroe feedback here, I feel like they are bashed sometimes on this board. Haven't used a set myself in many years, but perhaps another look is warranted for my '03 Corolla when the time comes.

One of my favorite shocks was the Monroe reflex. I loved that feel on a truck or van. Now … the two I had seemed to never finish breaking in… they loosened up, and then kept loosening up, and loosening up…. And in both cases I sold the vehicles and never knew how long they lasted, but I would have gladly bought them again for applications not too hard to change.

Sensatraks gave me good service on a used Jeep, ran like oem. I have no idea how old (or young) they were.

But I’ve read so much bad press that I’ve tried everything else, as basic as Gabriel ultra (respectable, oem softish ride and held up at least 7 years before the car left my care) to bilstein (mixed experiences here) and upper end Fox. (Fox rides bone-jar stiff, but stellar on a tow vehicle).

Probably because people here got the USA made line?

Losing two plants near in Emporia Kansas soon. I dont think leaving US, but moving. Maybe we get lucky and they ban TikTok, then start banning and tariffing products from certain no friendly nations as well as the DG and DT stores. I like to buy local if and when i can.
