At least in Michigan, when I listen to my scanner and police call in plate checks, warning citations are listed on record.

Off topic: anyone interested in listening to scanner action, local or across the nation, can do it on your computer at this cool site: http://www.radioreference.com/ click on live audio and find your location.

Boston is about 35 miles from where I live or work. We avoid driving down there at every opportunity that we get :-) I only know the place listed on the ticket because I hear it every day on the traffic report. To the best of my knowledge, we have never ever been there.

The ticket had return address of the State Police Headquarters Framingham but had the actual sending zip code postmark of Boston. Our address was handwritten on it. "Mass Uniform Citation" has a serial number, so it must be get entered somewhere. If a real Statie wrote it, that would be quite a surprise as usually those guys are true professionals and would not pull these kind of stunt.

We mailed the response letter yesterday and requested that the ticket removed from our record.
