Greetings from a new guy!
I bought a 2011 Silerado and now i want to wax it before winter hits. I dont have a buffer so i will be doing it by hand. What is a good OTC wax? What OTC wax would you use?

Collinite No. 476S Super Doublecoat Wax

Might sell it at a marine store.

Duragloss Total Performance Polish (TPP) # 105 is good too.

I just ordered this combination, and will test it out once it arrives.

Collinite is great and inexpensive for the quality you get, 476s is the way to go.

Believe it or not my uncle in Miami has an '06 F-150 and he only uses Nu-Finish every 6 mo in the Miami Fl. sunshine and the truck looks amazing. $5-6 a can just food for thought.

I do the exact same thing.

+1 on 2010 Fusion and +1 on 2004 F-150 in rain-soaked Pacific Northwest.

Several of us have had good results with Eagle One Gelwax. The cleaner in it is very mild. I would think it a good choice for a new vehicle. O'Reilly's sometimes has it on sale.

I would top the wax with a sealant since wax (OTC) do not last long.

Snow, If you are going to use any type of sealant, it must be applied under the wax. In other words; wash, clay, sealant, wax in that order.
To the OP, Order some collinite 476 from autogeek.net it is the best sealant/wax (it is a hybrid) you can buy. I did my 2011 Silverado with 2 thin coats and it looks great after 7 months of abuse. Every time I wash my truck it comes out looking freshly waxed again! No B.S! Duragloss 501/601 and others will work too but I did my truck with 476 by hand so I know it works. Plus, It came out great and was no harder to apply or remove than any other paste wax. Go for it

Hey neighbor!

Meguires NxT 2.0. Awesome stuff, lasts 2x longer + easy on & easy off!

Thanks but after deailing for over 20+ years from $4K cars to $100K+ cars. It also depends on what the customer is looking for...glow, shine, depth, reflection etc.

For most: ONR, clay, Jeff's Werkstatt prime or AG, all using a 9227C machine, apply Acrylic Jett, wait 24 hours then wax..get a waxed look with sealant to protect. I use Chemical guys 5050 wax...works best I have tried..I have tried almost every product OTC and online. Zaino, clearcoat, poorboys, opticoal, etc]

If they want a glow with a longevity I will do the above but wax, wait 24 and then seal...

Again depends on what the customer wants.

You've been doing it wrong for 20 years, how about that?

Durability is always sealant first with cure time then wax if desired. Sealants must have a pristine clean surface to adhere and bond properly if long term protection is important. If that's not a consideration then do it your way.

For longevity, I use Collinite 476s.

More important than wax is prep. Be sure to claybar the paint before waxing. We just had a discussion on whether this was important on new vehicles.

Yup and my way you get the warm glow of wax and the durability of a sealant. How about that..

Sealants are great on some cars and others not. Wax will harden in about 24 hours and then seal..Then you are fine.

if you put a sealant first then a wax. The wax (and glow on dark cars) will leave and just have a dull car.

Sorry, your wax method will not make my customers happy. All the OTC waxes will not last long to start with.
