Will be doing a few updates on the Cobalt here soon, one of them being pads and rotors.

Car st ill has the OEM pads and rotors @ nearly 70k (know that they are made by akebono) I want something that will be dust free (like the ones now) and last a while.....

Considering AC delco, akebono, Bendix....also the powerstop brake package on RA (pads/rotors) for a DD looks pretty good too....

When driving with the loonies here in MI, you need a good set of brakes.....

I am happy with the
"ACDelco Professional Durastop Ceramic Front Disc Brake Pad Set"

I put on the 2010 accent. Low noise, good pedal feel, stops good.

The only issue I had is the ears were oversize and would bind about 30seconds with the angle grinder and they are good.

Of course now they will rust(more)

A ceramic brake pad will give the least dust. Check your current rotors, maybe they would be good for another round.

Akebono pads would be my choice.

Get "good"/"better" quality rotors, no need to get "best" quality rotors. Spend the $$ on pads.

There is no such thing as "No Dust" brake pad. Some pads produce less(may be much less) dust than others, some make light dust others make darker so it looks worse on aluminum wheels.

Bendix CT-3 seems to generate less and lighter dust on my S2000, so that I don't need to clean the wheels so often.

I used the ceramic wagner pads on my saturn ion (nearly the same car as a cobalt) and they've been great fwiw. The ions came with ceramic pads from the factory as well.

Well, it's kinda true.

With my current brakes, my front wheels barely ever have any dust of them.....

Must be the Durastop ones the AC sells

Kinda my thinking as well....

I put durastop ceramic's on my Cadillac and although they made no dust they were loud under hard braking. Like a grinding sort of loud. I swapped for the cheaper acdelco advantage ceramic's and they've been great so far. Check out amazon I got my last set for $6 in the 'used' section.

I thought it was strange too, but for $6 why not try something different. I haven't had any other negative experiences with durastops, but in the future I may just go with the cheaper advantage line.

Their pads tend to be like 15 bucks cheaper than the durastops..

Would like good stuff, but not overspend for what is pretty much the beater car....

Of course I say that knowing I put Cooper CS5 touring tires on a while back....

Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors and ceramic pads on my GXP, and on my wifes TrailBlazer. Very little if no dust. The ones on my GXP are cross drilled and sometimes squeal, but stop with well over 1.03G of force. My meter, wife, and the geese I missed going from 70+ to 0 mph can attest to it.

Wow!

I have used Centric Ceramic Posi-quiet pads on my Mazda6 and Expedition. I only have 10k miles on the Mazda6 pads, and 6k on teh Expedition pads right now, but so far dust is lower than OEM, brake feel is better than OEM, braking is also better but I have upgraded the tires as well. I was just washing my car (mazda6, heavy driving, heavy brake use) today, last wash was 6 weeks ago (shame...) and the wheel cleanup was very easy.
