Good shaving soaps

I thought you used a pre shave lotion with an electric razor. Some times my dad would use an electric razor and I remember he put something on first.

So, member vavaroom got my attention about shaving the other day. I have two older old spice cups that shaving soap would fit in. Have some real good brushes that were given to me by my brother also. Can anyone recommend a good shaving soap?

Thank You folks and it’s almost Friday 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Much more important than soap (any soap is good, pick one with a scent that you like) is the brush. The best are made out of Badger's Hair. They are expensive and that's the reason I've moved on to the cans of shake 'n Soap.

FWIW I use dollar shave club razors and shave butter. The nice thing is I never run out. It shows up every 3 months as scheduled. I go 3 months to increase the buying quantity to get the discount.

Just my $0.02

I must be the only one who uses stuff out of the can lol. Oh well nothing new I guess. I haven’t shaved in probably 6 months. My dad occasionally will use a shaving soap I think he has some Poraso is what it is.

I've used Gillette, Proraso and a badger hair brush, moved on to Harry's razors with Billy Jealousy Hot Towel Pre-shave and Shaved Ice shave cream. Doesn't burn my skin or clog the razor.

My skin's to dry for soap -

I use gold bond moisturizer essentials for men to shave with.

There are a number of bennies to doing this.

1. Works great to avoid razor burn, while shaving as close as soap.
2. Its moisturizer so no need to rinse and use extra water at the end - just rub it into your face.
3. cleans off the blades well, which contributes to long blade life.
4. Only one tube in the dopp kit for travel
5. Works for other areas of the body especially on long plane flights that dry everything out.
6. Its cheap, easy to find, comes in a variety of sizes.
That Gold Bond stuff was a life saver during the winter - though it makes my face break out and it’s a little too oily as a facial moisturizer for my taste. It’s still a good product in a pinch.

I use something called Ultra Repair Cream by First Aid Beauty - carried at both Sephora and Ulta(yes, I know). It works great as an after shave moisturizer. Though, since I switched over to wet shaving with a safety razor, I don’t get as much razor burn as I usually did with a Gillette Fusion and Kiehl’s shaving cream.
