Thought I'd share my experience for a BIG warranty repair on our 07 Impala.

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/late-model-gm-v-6-head-gasket-problems.151069/

Daniels Long Chevrolet replaced all the gaskets in the top end of the engine, as well as the water pump. They didn't put up any fight over the warranty, and thoroughly explained everything. The TSB for this problems ends in 08 and GM does have revised gaskets, head bolts, and torque procedure according to the service writer. They didn't try and up sell any additional stuff. The only problem I could see was the power steering fluid level was about up to the bottom of the cap. I sucked enough fluid out to get the correct level. No biggy, as long as the gasket fix holds.

As of now, I'm pretty glad that GM got bailed out!

Good to hear. There are some good GM dealers out there. And as long as your dealer is on your side, and even sometimes when they're not, GM is pretty good about honoring its warranty with no hassles from what I seen.

I'm glad you posted your experience. A lot of us (myself included) have bashed Chevy (and Ford) dealerships - so it's good to keep things "honest" so to speak!
Thanks!

I have come to believe that a dealership experience is more about the caliber of the people at the dealership itself and less about the "brand".

My local GM dealer I trust, even had them do some oil changes before I found a indy when I was strapped on time. Only repair I had to get done was on my 05 silverado that the extending side view mirrors broke, motor went out. They replaced without issue. They even fixed the automatic seats when it was my fault they broke. When I smoked I dropped the cigarette lighter and lost it. Apparently they found it after I took it in for warranty work and fixed it anyways. They set it in the cup holder all mangled.

Now, our local Toyota dealer, thats a different story.

Well its good to hear that they treated you well of course if they did not and you were under warantee you could get a lemon law attorney (free) and it would really cost them so i guess for everyones sake they fixed it..

Drew, do you happen to know the TSB number for the 3.5/3.9 failure? I have an 07 Uplander with the 3.9. Thanks.

Yes, I've found this the case as well.

Most people only post feedback when they have a negative experience, and few will follow-through after a positive experience. OP, thanks for posting.

a big +1 here.
If I may chime in, Ron Westphal in the Aurora/Oswego IL area is another dealer with a good service department. I've raved about them here before, when I had my Malibu, they were really good at *not* upselling or doing work that was not necessary. The only reason I didn't buy a Chevy from them when I had to get a car last year is because they were being evasive on whether GM was going to keep them on ("our franchise agreement is in effect until October 2010" was the party line while other Chevy dealers were saying that that they were staying open) and I didn't want risk them closing and having the next nearest GM dealer (and not even a Chevy dealer) be almost 10 miles away, in an area wil almost no public transit.

The now closed local Ford dealer was pretty good with service, but I wouldn't consider buying a car there. They just didn't get it, and survived for years on old repeat customers. Really didn't know much about anything.

Another one in the area is the opposite. Wouldn't bother with service. They don't even want to it - reluctant. They just want to sell cars.
