Th threads on one of my exhaust manifold bolts for my boat is messed up and I can't get it to thread in by hand. It's the bolt, because it doesn't fit in any of the holes. It's a 3/8" bolt that's like 6" long. Tractor supply may have them, but they only have them in 1/2" increments

Your local nut and bolt supplier.
You could try Ace Hardware. If they are fine threads, you may not find them at Ace Hardware.

If you need it same day, Fastenal BAM has been a go to for my professional search for quality fasteners. I would say they are too expensive for my personal cash, and I will usually rely on McMaster or a certain niche hardware store.

I've found a huge assortment of hardware at Lowe's . Even some specialty stuff like Grade 8 , etc. Home Depot too but their displays aren't kept up as neatly .

Also CAT will sometimes stock length variations in increments of 1/8". Although at 6" they might not.

While you're there see if you can get a catalog of rebadged SnapOn tools ;)

Don't be afraid to trim a longer bolt as needed, provided enough thread length remains.

You can shorten a longer bolt by just installing your die on the threads before you cut it off. Cleans up the threads when you take it off then.

Or just chamfer it on a belt sander. If the nut still won't start, chamfer a little more.

But never a bad idea to pre-install a nut. It'll act as a thread chaser well enough when you remove it.
