Good HDEO for a Ford 4.6L Modular?

I was wondering what your opinions would be on this oil (Q8 T 760), which I'm wanting to try out in my Ford 4.6L. This is a low SAPS oil, however.

Specifications are:

• ACEA E7 / E9
• API CJ-4 / API SM
• Volvo VDS-4
• Renault RLD-3
• MAN 3275
• MB 228.31
• MTU Type 2.1
• Cat ECF-3/ECF-2
• Cummins CES 20081

• Viscosity Grade: SAE 10w30
• Kinematic Viscosity at 40 °C (D 445): 82.2 mm2/s
• Kinematic Viscosity at 100 °C (D 445): 12.0 mm2/s
• Viscosity Index (D 2270): 141
• Flash Point (D 93): 224 °C
• Pour Point(D 97): -33 °C
• Total Base Number (D 2896): 7.6 mg KOH/g
• Sulphated Ash Content (D 874): 0.98 % mass

Does the car call for a low SAPS oil? i doubt it.

It calls for API SM, which is listed as one of the specifications.

Ok not familiar with the vehicle but i don't think you have a DPF and need a low ash low sulphur and phosphorous oil,IMO offers less in lines of over all protection,if you want a HDEO witch is great fine try one from the big "three" Delo,Delvac,Rotella.

It's a gasoline engine, so no DPF. A low SAPS HDEO probably still has more antiwear additives than an API SM would.

I see no problems with that oil in your car.

It's pretty difficult to get hold of a quality HDEO here. The majority are API CF rated SAE 40 or 50. This is an exception, which I'm able to get through some contacts. Used to be able to get Pennzoil LongLife Gold 15w40, but cannot find it anymore.

I never said it wouldn't work yes it will but my preference is for a standard oil with a better starting TBN if he plans on extended drains??, OP i forgot you were in Kuwait.

Sorry, one thing I forgot to mention was I have no intention of extending drains with this oil. Probably a maximium of 10,000 km (6,250 miles) and call it a day. I was really just interested in comparing wear numbers.

That said, a TBN of 7.6 isn't too shabby for a low SAPS oil.
