good 10-30 HM oil?

my dad used 5-30 winter and 10-30 summer since it burns less in his 96 chevy cavalier.
Lately using Castrol 5-30 HM it burned 1 qt in 2k miles.
I already bought some Castrol 10-30 since it says 17% less oil burn off.

I was thinking what other good formulas are there with 5-30/10-30 HM motor oils?

i heard its an excellent oil but does it apply both in 5-30/10-30 or is one grade superior to the other?

I've always had decent results using both Pennzoil and Castrol High Mileage 10w30. They both make a 10w-40 High Mileage if you need something a little heavier.

It's the same recipe, but one has more egg whites than the other.

If your are running a brand name high mileage oil such as Castrol I seriously doubt another brand will do much better. I personally like MaxLife, though I will buy whichever brand name High Mileage oil is on sale. If Castrol is on sale run it! If Valvoline is on sale run it! 10w30 may be what your dad's car needs. Give it a shot. Don't forget about Pennzoil. One High Mileage oil I avoid is the Quaker State High Mileage with Slick 50. I don't like Slick 50. Try Rotella T 10w30 if it is cheaper than a High Mileage oil. The theory behind most High Mileage oils is seal conditioning and less burnoff. So if the car is burning it maybe a bit thicker might be better. Let us know how it goes please...

Supertech High Mileage for 3,000 miles oil changes. Maxlife for 5,000 mile changes. I use both. Maxlife if its on sale. Supertech anytime.

Can you folks please tell me what you have been paying for maxlife? Does it come in 5qt jugs and where have you been finding your best pricing.
