I've been running Castrol GTX High Mileag in my car which has 120k and this car does not leak oil, but has some minor oil seapage. I've been wanting to stop using the High Mileage oil and use energy conserving Havoline because I feel this engine (with it's 10yrs of age and high mileage) is not a tired or worn out engine. I just hope that my idea of getting off the High Mileage band wagon won't hurt anything with regard to this motor and its engine seals. My OCI is every 3 monthss because I enjoy doing this, and have the time. With that, will even a conventional oil changed often help protect internally the engine seals?

I wouldn't worry about it, we've had a lot of cars and never used High Mileage oils...never an issue other then normal seepage.
I would try now when you are at 120K rather than wait until 200K. Also in addition to seal conditioners your GTX HM is one of the thickest 30W oils so if you get more seepage you might want to go thicker and or back to HM. You use a 3000M OIC so you can afford to try several of those you are considering without much downside.
That's cool. Guess I'm going all Havoline in that case. Already dumped the Castrol Syn Blend I had in my minivan and put 5w30 Havoline in.
I've heard many of you mention that the Havoline holds up well next to Castrol GTX in regard to oil burnoff, etc... I'll give that a try.
Pluse, I can't get over the fact that at Walmart, the 5 qt jug is 6.97. Geez!!! you can't beat that.

If it seeps a bit you could always use a few ounces of ARX to help the seals.

My beater car is an '88 Ford Escort 1.9L with 272K mles on it. Owned it since new, OCI has 3-4K miles with 10w30 conventional oil. More seepage from the tansaxle than the engine at this time. 35mpg, can't complain.
What I like about Havoline is that is seems to blend with Delo nicely. Havoline 10w-40 as a base, add in some Delo for summer or some Havoline 5w30 synthetic in winter...or both, like I am doing now.

I made sure it was 'pre Katrina' oil, as the newest stuff is lowered to Group 1 [hopefully only for a short while].
The date code is dark purple ink on a black bottle - good luck reading it!

My Walmart does not sell Havoline (I need the 5w20). So I sent my fiance' to Advance to buy 5 qarts with the instructions to find some with the date pre-September. She said she could not find a date on any quart and the salesman looked in vain for it also. Is the date stamped on quarts too or only on the 5 qt. jugs?
martyi - I bought a case of Havoline 5w20 oil at Autozone last week, and on the top of the case is printed 05-18-05.
The jugs have the code on the front, at the bottom edge.
