Is right now a good time to buy motor oil?

Valvoline has the $20 mail-in rebate offer if you purchase three containers of Synpower.

However, at $23.50/container plus taxes, even with the rebate it works out to about $3.80/qt. Not terribly inexpensive.

Quaker State has the $10 mail-in rebate on Ultimate Durability Synthetic. Since Walmart sells the 5-qt jugs for $20, after rebate and taxes, it costs $2.35/qt.

With that said, do you guys think I should purchase both the SynPower and the Ultimate Durability synthetic, or just the QS stuff?

The SynPower doesn't seem like that great of a deal, but then again, remember that I don't have access to an Advanced Auto.

You must already know the answer that you will get here: both!!! Last year we did see some really good rebates from PP; but not in awhile - and who knows what the future holds? Besides, isn't the saying: "He/(she) who ends with the most oil, wins?!?!?!??!

Autozone has the mobil 1 oil change sale until the 13th. If you are into M1. Plus if you use your autozone card you and spend $20 or over 6 times you get a free $20 store credit.

My truck ran good and smooth on Quaker State Horsepower 5w30. MPG's took a 1-1.5 MPG hit, compared to the previous fill of Valvoline 5w-20. Used the Quaker State Horsepower on vacation hauling a load of 1200-1300 lbs. It looked and smelled fine when drained. But is the Synpower worth 75% more in cash. But I had good results with 2 fills of Synpower early in my trucks life. If the economy does not pick up in a substantile manner, there will be more PP type rebates. HOPE SO $1 syn ROCKS

I guess for me it would be PP. Even though theres no rebates. I hate rebates, if you want to offer me a sale i want the money off right then.

go to advance auto part's website

add 15 quarts of valvoline synpower to your cart
add 3 purolator pureone filters(highly rated filters here) to your cart

total will be 74.97, just buy something that will make it over 75 and you will have free shipping. and i think you wont have to pay for tax since you're in california.

save you trip and $(savings + tax)

Agreed. I guess money is money though.

I took the QS UD deal and passed on the SynPower offer. Both are quality oils, but the SynPower offer just wasn't sweet enough for my tastes.

Not a bad deal, but I think if AAP has stores in California he'd have to pay tax. I'm waiting for the next round of PP rebates, or Edge rebates. Combine them with a filter and OC special and it's pretty hard to beat. Just another one of the perks of having a stash, you can really wait for the good deals.

AAP does not have stores in California so he won't have to worry about that.

Strange, I just ordered some stuff from them and I'm in CA and they charged me taxes.

"Let me tell you how it will be...
There's one for you, nineteen for me!

'Cause I'm the TAXMAN!"

We actually get to VOTE on whether to allow the biggest permanent income tax increase in Oregon history, as well as a blatant attempt to add a sales tax (they call it a "gross revenue" tax, but it is clearly a sales tax) for certain corporations EVEN IF THEY DON'T MAKE A PROFIT!

This is in order to "help" fund a 9% INCREASE in State spending over the next budget!

VOTE "NO!" ON MEASURES 66 & 67!

Cheers!
