whenever i go to walmart or another large department store im always drawn to the oil isle, i not only look at the oil products but all the other automotive stuff as well. i guess im looking for the deal of the century or the holy grail of oil deals or something. it doean't matter if i was there the day before, i'll still check it. i dont know why i do it because ive never really stumbled across a great deal but its the anticipation that i think i get the rush out of. its kinda like waiting for the horse race then finding a horse i like and then they line up at the gate and then THEY'RE OFF, then the next race goes off in 20 minutes and it all starts again. lately ive been finding myself looking at the oil shelf at little drug stores too to find the $5 quarts of penzoil yellow. i guess im just itchin to report with a "look what i found" thread....persistance may pay off one of these days......

I do the same thing at Walmart just about every time I go. Cruising the oil isle is a lot safer than cruising the other isles checking out the little chickadees.

I'm with you guys, but I'm pretty disappointed lately. I haven't really found any huge deals at WM. My last big score was the O'Reilly "Free after Rebate" deal. After that, even $1/qt oil isn't a great deal.

I'll admit that I spend more time in the automotive especially the oil/filter aisle that I sometimes forget why I went to Walmart in the first place.

While Wally world doesn't have the buy-one-get-one specials I think it consistently offers low prices - albeit not the lowest price - on motor oil. Their 5 quart bottles often cost as much a 4 qt bottle somewhere else. 5 qt MC 5W-20 synblend for only $10.36 a bottle is a great deal in my book.

im the same way, everytime i go into a store that sells oi,, i have to check ALL the bottles out. if i dont ill feel weird when i leave the store and wont be able to sleep good at nite so i go back and finish checking things out.

I like checking out the oil bottles, especially drawn to the Max life red jugs (Um pretty) I would like to open them and run it through my fingers, and have with the RP, but out of respect to the buyers, I try to refrain from doing that.

I love checking out oil sections. I bee-line to the autmotive corner in every department store and slosh the bottles of oil around! People think I'm crazy *slosh slosh*

You Bruce, you actually go and look down the oil aisle?!?

I would of thought that all you would do is look at the product on the shelves, snicker and smirk, knowing that you can put together a better formulation in your sleep than what is sitting on that shelf for some poor suckers like us to buy and say, "Look at the beautiful lubricant I bought for my gorgeous engine today!!"

I must be crazy!

yeah, when other people go to WM for groceries, I go along to "just look around" and always end up in the oil aisle.

i even make trips to Autozone and CSK "just to look around" and spend hours in the oil and filter section. if i thought i could get away with opening 1 of each bottle i would! but i just usually just look at the pretty, different colored bottles and wonder what I'm going to use next!

Haha! I do that very exact same thing! If I`m bored at the house on my day off,I`ll head to Autozone or Oreilly`s just to look at all the oils! If I`m reallyyyyyy bored,I`ll go tour the gear lube/tranny fluid isle

Yes, everytime, I can't heellpp it. Please don't help me. Rehab? I say "NO,NO,NOOO.."

As far as anything auto - I recall looking at the then massive-to-me batteries (starter, deep cycle), when mother would have to go shopping when I was in my single digits - I was on my way to the toy section of course. Nowadays the automotive section has become my toy section of sorts.

Either before or after work, or even on lunch I have the opportunity to walk to the opposite end of the parking lot and venture through a store much like the one I mentioned above only bigger and about $$$ than anything else I guess, and yes, "handle some jugs."

Just the other day in fact, I bought a gallon of Rotella 30wt to play around with, and at another store 2 qts of castrol HD40. Curiosity got the better of me I guess concerning newtonian lubricants.

Take care.

But how many of you look for the oil section in the grocery or drug store?

Here is a fun idea: Go to a tractor dealer and check ot their oils. I bought a John Deere oil filter for my F150 once.
