GMC Sierra EV deliveries to customers began this week

Bold prediction - in a few months we will have a new thread titled "Sierra EV's rotting on the lot"

I thought these were supposed to be 50K not 100K. Seems they have inherited Tesla's mission creep.
As a business financial analyst, I have to wonder what the start up costs were. Break even point?
It seems GM and Ford decided to play to their strength; pickups.
Sounds like a mess to me...

It’s a nice looking truck, I like it, just not enough to pay the price for it. Would probably fit my use just fine. Could run errands and cart fishing gear and paddle boards the 12 miles to the beach or intercostal just fine. Then again for much less I could buy a base gladiator and take the kids to the beach with no doors or roof ! Room in the back for gear. I am cool with electric trucks if the ones I want can get to a comparative price ran be.

While many of us do follow this, I think there's a lot of people that buy a lot more car price wise than is really reasonable. I think that explains why we have so many expensive vehicles available these days.
Broke people yes.

Locally many folks have the $300k+ income easily more towards $500k+ household. The Sierra trucks loaded to hilt are popular with guys, not sure the EV version will appeal.

Not a single Ford 150 Lightning.

Many have an extra Tesla in family beyond their wives medium to large Toyota/Ford/VW/Honda SUVs. Interesting very few in this range own luxury makes.

The cheaper models come out in a few months. Elevation and AT4 trims. But I’m still guessing these never go under about $69k base. Silverado EV starts at $59k for about the most stripped-out version imaginable. 😬

I had heard the longer range work truck was around $80k. There's an electrician in my area that has one. I keep seeing that truck all over the place so I had to look it up now to see what their business was.

80k isnt bad for the self employed when you think about it. He just took an 80k write off on his business that he doesnt have to pay personal and business income tax and self employment tax on which reduces the cost of the vehicle at least 40+% AND possibly an additional $7,500 of taxpayer money. All depends on his income and tax bracket of course.

I’m not questioning that at all, that makes perfect sense to me. In addition to that as much as I see him all over the place I’d assume it’s saving him a bunch in fuel.

It’s the only way I’ve seen one in person and I’ve seen him out and about for the last few months. It had to be one of the first ones out there. On top of that I always see it in front of a house in a town of less than 2,000 people. I just find it really interesting to see one there when I’d never expect it.

Just an FYI, I didnt think you were questioning it:)

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful truck, with great towing and range.

Absolutely my dream car

For a similar price to Cybertruck, why would anyone pick Cybertruck, I just don't get it.

Has anyone seen a Sierra EV IRL? I can't wait to see one personally! I have seen plenty of Cybertrucks, like three Hummer EVs, a single Silverado EV, but no Sierra EVs.
Especially with all of the constant problems that the Cybertruck is having. It seems like every couple of months it has more issues (that should have been worked out) pop up. Look at the guy that had to message Elon on X as his first Cybertruck couldn't be repaired. His second one bricked itself after 3 weeks.

The Chevy truck EV's are starting to show up locally on the dealer lot. They currently only have one in stock, looks like they are using a stock photo:

It's WT trim, $79,798

I think Chevrolet uses sofware to inject the background. My dealer looks like that with the name on the building. I'm not sure if the truck is just a stock photo injected. It would probably be easier to tell if it wasn't white. I've seen one so far and it was a work truck.

The truck is on the lot, I drove by it, yeah, the pic of the truck itself might be real, with the injected background as you note.

80k + delivery+ other fees + tax + none of them come without some sort of dealer addon.
so 90k for a WT?🤮
PS That is more than I paid for my house in 2013.

80K is the max it can cost MSRP to qualify for the 7500, so we'll see 79,995 + ADM on these for a while.

Unless you’re a business owner and apply for the commercial tax credit. Then there is no limit on price. Honestly, I think a lot of $100,000 plus trucks are. I could be wrong just guessing and honestly, I don’t think they would really care as it would still be a business writeoff without a $7500 credit

Did I read Ford was losing 130k on each EV sold? Obviously that will go down over time. I think in 10 years we will be in a much different place. I still think by going for such long range at such a high $$ the automakers made a miscalculation
