GM truck trans fluid fill

Hey all, I've spent a number of hours reading old posts on this site, and have been learning a lot. (And I thought I knew a lot about cars, hahaha.)

I have a 1975-vintage Chevy truck. The trans has just been rebuilt (less than 500 miles on it now). This vehicle is loaded to GVWR at times, about 6,500 lbs. and uses a TH-350.

I've been considering installing one of those fast-shift valvebody spacers in the trans. They say it's supposed to help longevity. What's the group concensus on something like this? I'm assuming a regular Dexron fluid fill, but if there's something I should know about, let me have it!

Shift kits can aid transmission longevity.

Don't go to aggressive with the shiftkit. Stage I, street, tow, or heavy duty....is enough for most people.

If you have a good ATF cooler, then regular Dex III-H is good enough. If you don't have a trans cooler, get one.

There are also deep transmission pans which will aid transmission longevity. Most have drainplugs that make fluid changes more convenient.

maybe
depends on what the short life components are...

clutch packs will last longer: shorter shift = less heat energy
gears shafts & bearings may be less: shorter shift = greater torque disturbance on shifts, more fatigue damage

Sounds like you need a good Blend ATF.
