GM to reimburse Dexcool owners

Not a word about the 5.7 Vortec engines that had and continue to have the same problem, and no mention as to reimbursement if one did the repair himself, like me.

again, the lawyers are going after the most profitable (to them) cases, under the guise of protecting the public, while not really caring for anything but their boats and Mercedes cars.

I agree with you totally. Lawyers are a big part of what's wrong with America right now. It's not surprising that the majority of our Congress are lawyers.

What happens to those of us who did the repair ourselves but still had out of pocket expenses?

Man..GM has taken me to the cleaners...I just had the intake gasket on my 2000 Buick 3.8..had the gasket changed on a '97 GMC 5.3 and a '98 GMC 7.4...I'm out almost 2k on a defective part...I now drive a 07 Ford KR with transmission shudder...I should have bought a ????????????

Maybe the same thing could be said about the manf that sold a defective product. The lawyers wouldn't have much of a case if all the problems hadn't come up. Maybe if the CEO and CFO's had been more worried about making sure that the probduct that was going out the door was a good design instead of either maybe a cheaper design or not thoroughly tested design, or at a minimum when problems did show up that they took care of it instead of waiting until a lawsuit came up.

bit it is still quite transparent from the language and setup of these "for the best of the population" (yeah, right) lawsuits, that they are cited purely for the lining of the pockets of the legal team.

Were the management folks wrong all along? yes. But no more wrong than the monopoly that the lawyers create in destroying the ability of the common citizen to utilize the legal system without paying ridiculous fees. Fees on the results of this and other CAL's being extremely high just like anything else.

Is there any method for getting reimbursement? My brother just recently had this done at a local shop, so I'm sure he still has the receipt and everything. Does he need to contact GM or is there a number for the class action lawsuit?

Thanks.

I have been involved in three class action suits in my life. The total amount of money i collected: 15 bucks! These suits benefits the lawyers involved, not the people.

If there is enough money involved, it has the indirect benefit of making the manufacturer who was hosing their customers think twice about it next time.

This one looks like it is structured differently. The lawyers are paid separate. It appears that if you qualify, you can get reimbursed, in most cases, for out of pocket costs of $400.

It also makes them think twice about doing anything that could be construed as admitting they knew there was a problem.
