modern coolants: Rotella ELC NF, Peak Final Charge (Global vs Pro?) or stick with Dexcool

Well, I didn't get much out of this thread, but this chart helped to shed light:

It appears Rotella ELC-NF and Peak Final Charge Global are similar (OAT). Final Charge Pro being it's own thing (POAT)

Well, NAPA had Rotella ELC NF on special for $16.50 a gallon (concentrate) last month and this month, Peak Final Charge Pro concentrate for $17.50. I caved. Weather or not I have an understanding of all the coolant types/variations, this winter will include me converting to FC-Pro while I do a preventative water pump replacement, lower radiator hose (plastic tee between the two radiators), and perhaps address a plastic fitting on the heater core circuit.

A gallon of concentrate will go in the camper but WM and TSC carry 50-50 and I've also spotted concentrate and/or 50/50 at AAP and AZ, so I'm not concerned about finding it if needed in the future.

Garden hose water to flush old coolant out is fine, but do flush the garden hose water out with distilled water then...

This is a problem for wet sleeved engines and not cast in block ones

It can still.happen to cast in sleeves. Very common on the 7.3 idi and 7.3 powerstroke. Just talkes longer to show up .
