I am going to call [censored] on this one.
I have had 3 LS1 F-bodies and two LSx trucks. I have not run
5w30 in any of them. In fact my first one was a 98 Z28 that received only M1 20W-50 for 156,000 miles. N2O and a bunch of 1/4 mile passes no issues. My curent truck (6.0) and my Trans Am both get M1 10W-30.

I was being facetious of course. A 5-30 protecting better than a 20-50?

I have seen cam failure in a 6.0 using 15w40, but may not have been a oil related problem.

Sorry, I'm not buying in either. We've had dozens of LS series engines around here for ages and only one cam failure ever. It was due to a bad roller on a lifter and would have failed no matter what oil we used.

You have to be careful of "Internet Amplification". Too much info too easily disseminated all over the world!

First off , I'm not a lubrication specialist. This sounds like a marketing thing. By their oil, chage it out often, and sell your hotrod 'cause now your broke from buying JGD oils.
I'm sure the oils are good. But not good enough to get a second mortgage to but that stuff.

I agree. It's a marketing piece by JGR.

Their oils are fantastic for high performane applications, especially those requiring more ZDP.

There are other more affordable options for high ZDDP oils.
Brad Penn, Valvoline VR1, Amsoil Dominator or Zrod oils.
All are much cheaper and will work great.

Corvettes come straight out of the factory with M1 5w30. Even the Corvette racing team uses it and beats the stew out of it. Certainly has worked well in my LS2 Vette.
