It looks like changing oil weight and putting a different oil cap on the GM 6.2 engines is not going to cut it. Huge mess for owners of the affected vehicles.
They probably saved 50 cents on an engine doing that.I laughed when he said they are instructing them to put the new engine in and to put the old 0w-20 oil cap back on it.
Quite possible fines and CAFE credits vanishing would ensue driving their loss even higher.I have a suspicion that the EPA stepped in and let GM know that they approved the engine for production based specifically on 0W-20 oil and they weren't going to allow them to do an across-the-board oil viscosity grade change without further testing and approvals.
I think the EPA is only concerned with the output aka fuel mileage and emissions, not the oil grade number itself.I have a suspicion that the EPA stepped in and let GM know that they approved the engine for production based specifically on 0W-20 oil and they weren't going to allow them to do an across-the-board oil viscosity grade change without further testing and approvals.
Does anyone have a link saying GM abandoned the 0w40 change over?
Tie!!!Not watching the video. Is there a GM statement, release on this?
I sped it up until i saw a document and it's near the end. It has all the things listed for an engine replacement and a switch back to 0w-20 again.Tie!!!
I just updated my post in the link above and even the government website says 0W40Tie!!!
Remember: A tie is as good as a loss, and no one remembers second place.Tie!!!
It sure looks that way.Are there any efforts going on the muzzle CAFE?
There better be.Are there any efforts going on the muzzle CAFE?
