What I was thinking is that power lines are ran along most roads anyway, but it would be hard to connect vehicles to the power grid directly since obviously they are moving. What I was thinking is using induction Wireless energy transfer to the vehicle with the electric cable buried in the roadway. I'm betting there are some techinical issues with it though. I'm not really sure how efficient induction is and at what distance.
