None. To me, it's a moronic consumer decision to use an overpriced product that's been demonstrated to not meet specifications.

Now, if you want to give me a couple cases for free, I'd be happy to take them off your hand. Then, you'll see them in the for sale section of BITOG.

As far as shortages go, I can't commit as I use PP on my truck. But as far as price goes, PP is hard to beat.

Better remove that one from your list.

Until Exxon crawls out from the shadows, I'll never believe it.

Yes, the claims have to be true, a major competitor says so!

"We would like you to know that while we are aware of Valvoline's assertions, ExxonMobil stands behind the quality of Mobil 1 and all of our lubes products. ExxonMobil's GF 4 licenses for all product lines are valid."

A final post from me on this subject, I have no idea what is in any of these oils, neither do all but possibly a few here...if even they do.

As far as anyone knows other than a Valvoline ad, M1 has the spec's they claim they do. It also is still FF in cars costing over $200,000 as well as some the fastest cars and by some of the most respected auto makers in the world.

Until that changes all else is speculation and B S.

If I learn of something to the contrary then I will reconsider.

BTW I have nearly 400 qt's of oil in my oil stash. Only 15 are M1. I have 30 qt's of PP, 20 qt's of GC, 30 qt's of Amsoil 0W-30, 40+ Havoline Synthetic, 45+ Synpower, 12 Lucas Synthetic, 10 Torco, 35 Mobil 5000, 6 cases of Chevron, 6 cases+ of TropArtic syn blend and about 50 misc QS, Shell, Havoline and Superflo conventional oil.

Nope. Until Exxon sues Ashland for libel, any claim that Mobil 1 5w30 meets spec is B S.

+1, a year or more IIRC.

No mobil 1 available here. Unless you want a partial oil change of 10w30 ...I am sure once they do their corrective reformulation it will show up again.

XOM's response doesn't even address the claim made by Ashland.

No one from XOM has responded via email or phone that M1 passes the Seq IVA wear test.

The amount of evidence that Exxon [censored] up is astounding.

I think it would be more correct to say that there are "allegations" of substandard performance. The jury isn't in as yet.

I didn't think there was still a shortage? Or is XOM tweaking the oil so it now passes the Seq IVA test?

The shelves at my Walmart are still mostly bare of M1 but the numbers on the price tags keep going up while other companies are lowering.

At my Walmart other companys are raising their price. $23.00 PP and Val.

Must cost a bit more to make the product actually meet minimum API specs.

Gee, I wonder why there's still a shortage...

Can't blame it on Katrina anymore! Maybe it's hurricane Synpower.

Ever hear of hurricane Ike. It was on the news!
