I agree ....but since you can get full syns like M1, PP, PU etc...for about the same price, why bother...

UOAs show these full syns hold up better in my Cruze's turbo 1.4...

Since Chevy is including four oil changes in the purchase price of my car (typically with this oil), I'm fine with it, as long as I can dictate the OCI, which my dealer allows. After my four changes, I will DIY, probably with M1.

Same here, though I'm planning on QSUD.

How does GM get this oil to spec at 7.9 volatility? Which is lower than PP at 9.3??? And not that far off of Penn Ultra at 6.6???

If you don't live in a dusty road area, the OLM (Oil Life Monitor) should tell you the perfect time to change the oil. GM researched and refined that for years.

Pennz Ultra PurePlus, the latest & current one on the shelves, has a much higher NOACK now, not the old 6.6.

Its true the ACDelco dexos1 exceeds the spec, as the max allowed is 12 or 13.

I've heard there is some difficult variability in those NOACK tests. Hard to control test conditions or something. I'm not sure.

This DELCO Semi-synthetic oil may have more TRUE synthetic base in it than "FULLY SYNTHETIC" which can be ZERO percent synthetic in North America. I might run it my NISSAN which surprisingly specs a 5w30 - though Pennzoil Bronze bottle HM 5w30 is dang gud stuff.
