I used to work with a guy years ago who became a manager at the WM I worked at, and bought himself a brand new 1500 truck with a 4.3 in 1996.
He lived out of town, and drove back and forth to the store up to 4 times a day, and he drove fast. In mid-1999, I stopped seeing his truck, and asked him about it. Said he had sold the body, b/c the motor gave out, bad valvetrain.
Truck had 110k miles in less that 3 years, all high-speed highway driving, and probably minimal maintenance. At the times, I wasn't impressed.
