I went to Walmart Super Center to check out the metal filings in the Super Tech filters situation. I saw the biggest oil filter I have ever seen. It is an Super Tech3976A. The box says it is a replacement for the Fram PH 3976A or the ACDelco PF1070. The capacity of this thing must be at least a quart and a half. What is the 'application' for this filter. Where do I find the filter application or crossref? 1./ No, I did not find any filings in the limited number of Super Tech oil filters I checked. They look pretty good for only 1.97 each.

Good question. I often wonder what the stock application is for one of my oversize filters, the 3985. All of the filter catalogs I've looked at only list make, year, model, and the stock filter size. I'd like to see a catalog that allows you to look up filter model, and see what cars take that model as stock size. Anyone know where I could find such information?

All you have to do is search the web for the filter and various forums/carwebsites will have the listing for the part number.

I vaguely remember that the xx3985 is a metric thread filter for the Corvette ZR1, Dodge/Eagle Premier/Monaco, Jeep and other AMC/PRV applications.

AC/Delco has just such a feature available on it's website. Put in the AC number and it come back with a "this fits" list.

You can find it at:

Pretty cool, eh?

Kmart is closing out their existing supplies of Castrol Max Pro and Penske oil and air filters. Penske oil at 1.00 each, Max Pro oil at 2.00 each, and Penske air filters at 2.00each. stock up now if this is your choice.

Interesting about that filter at Walmart. Now i will go look at see if it fits my 92 dodge. I have used penske filters for a few years and they seem like a good quality filter.

Its for the Cummins 5.9L Turbo Diesel.
