Ghost stories from home

this is from my ex home country

1. A legendary ghost, and apparently very true.

In stormy weather on Easter weekend of 1968 a young engaged couple had a car accident on the Barandas-Willowmore road around 20 kilometers from the town. The woman, Marie Charlotte Roux, was sleeping on the back seat of their Volkswagen Beetle when her fiancé lost control of the car. The car overturned and she was killed.

The first reported sighting of a ghost matching her description occurred during the Easter weekend of 1976, [1], [2] and since then many other sightings have been reported. All involve a female hitchhiker who is given a lift, then disappears a few kilometers down the road, and some have reported car doors opening and closing, laughter and a chill in the air.

There's a small family cemetery in the countryside near where I grew up, reputed to be haunted. Went out there when I was in HS with some friends to check it out, didn't get more than 5 steps from the car when a county cop rolled up behind us and shooed us away. Always been intrigued to check it out.

on my wife's side, her great-gradma's house on the hill opoosite her father's house is haunted. sometimes you can hear the cutlery shake like someone is walking past it. one time her borther as a 10 year old kid rode his bike over there. knocked on the door, heard footsteps coming towards hiim, the cutlery rattling, then they sped up, until they were running. he said when it sounded like they came close to the door they just stopped. I am getting goosebumps writing this because I have been near that house. there is a family graveyard up the hill from it.

there are also sightings of the yowie near their farm.

lots of UFO sightings too. my wife saw one once, and had a rash for days afterwards, which is related to a kidney condition she now has... scary.

also, there is also a big black dog-like creature near their farm that has red eyes and spits blood in your face if you come across it at nighttime. two boys from the area was once chased by it and they got home with blood splatters on their face. she told me this on my first trip to their farm, as we were driving in to town at 12:30 AM to catch a train (takes an hour to get to town), i was [censored] myself...

If I were to travel in a fried-out combie with a head full of zombie, I'd see things!

I used to live on an Island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf,Waiheke Island.I had given my motorcycle jacket to a friend,a sail maker who did upholstery and other repairs, for a zip repair. He seemed to disappear, and I often called around to his place, but he was never home.

He lived in a remote bay,the road just petered out into a grass track down to the old villa on the beach. It was a real creepy place,it just felt odd.No one was ever home, just a couple of dobermans.

One day my mother was visiting, and while we were showing her around a few places I thought I'd do a surprise visit to see if I could catch this guy at home.My mother said she didn't like the place, and I just thought she might be right....i didn't either.Next thing she starts to get real panicky, saying it was a very bad place....something bad had happened here, and she wanted to leave - NOW!!! so we left.

I found out later that there had been a Maori tribe living in that bay,and waring with a tribe over on the mainland, pretty standard stuff for the time.Anyway, the tribe on the island decided to call a truce, and invited the other tribe over for a feast. All was going well - until the Island boys killed all the other tribe....and ate them.I guess my mother was right about something bad happening there. It certainly didn't give a good vibe to me either.

I finally got my jacket back after my friend got out of jail - he had been caught drunk driving, decked the Cop and ran away. But you can't run far on an Island, and can't get lost if the Cop is one of your drinking buddies.

Do ghosts only affect people who are not looking for them? I've been hoping to see one for years. Maybe I'm like a ghost to them, and they're scared of me.

Or maybe people who believe. My house is supposedly haunted- both of the previous owners told me. Seen or heard nothing other than old house noises. Dogs never seem any more spooked than our old house. However, some kids that spend the night tell me weird stories- of course they know the history as well.

Many of my "more spiritual friends" told me that my 3rd eyes were completely blind and shut to a point that I can't see anything, even if it is around me. Oh well, that's what happens when you are an engineers and everything has an explanation, or a theory to discover.

Some stories here, I've heard:

1) Sunnyvale's ToysRus is haunted and many women visitors have their hair brushed against when no one is around, stuff flying through shelfs, and taps that were shut turned open again, etc. The story was about a man bleed to death near a well when chopping wood and cut his leg by accident, and he was in love with the daughter of the farm he worked at. She married someone else and the guy who bleed to death still waits for her to return, near the well which is now in the box store of ToysRus.

2) My former barber told me his brother in law saw his late wife (the barber's sister) the 7th day she passed away, at home, and tell him (the brother in law) to take good care of the kids and make sure they study, and grow up well.

3) Not sure if this is ghost related. Church friends were praying together in group and since I was dragged into it, I wasn't very happy. She said when she close her eye she feel that everyone around has a spirit that was glowing but mine was a blob of darkness, then it gradually brighten up and was glowing as well. I didn't do anything other than calming down, and became less angry, and didn't feel anything around me what so ever.

You have some perceptive friends. Sounds like Don Juan via Carlos Casteñada.

All I know is that I get a tingling scalp and neck, even when I just read the stories here. Not scared or anything, just a [censored] hair feeling.

I have a few stories but nothing so interesting. I never get such feelings from anyone related or close to me who has croaked. Nothing like waking up with an ancient Chinese soldier standing over my bed. Gripes!!! That was way too real.

Be careful what you wish for. I was told that it depends on how spiritually sensitive you are. I've had one friend whose mother would dream in advance of big disasters that happen in a few days, and she occasionally see twisted creatures in her dorm room in a flash (of a second or so) and it goes away. She claims that her family (both mom and dad side) were descendants of Prophet Mohammad and they follow lots of spiritual and religious rules, and yada yada yada.

Some of my very religious friends from church have claimed to have seen angels dressed in purple robes in Taiwan's earth quake rescue, supporting a beam that was half way collapsed above survivors. When asking people around them afterward, no one have seen them.

My cousin in China (the one that was working as a big shot in a large city) helped steered the decision to support the rebuilt of a Goddess temple (Guan Yin, a goddess in China's Buddhism) that was very popular as people get what they wishes for frequently after visiting this temple. After the temple was rebuilt, my cousin took her daughter for a visit and a digital camera's photo they took of the daughter has a red vertical glare in it, right at the location of the goddess statue. According to locals this happens not very often, but when it happens it is usually to the children, as the goddess loves to help children and protect them.

Not sure about any of them, as my friend said my 3rd eye (the spiritual one) is completely shut.

Ghosts, if they do exsist, we are far more interested in them than they in us. A severe aside, a 4 dimensional object in our 3rd dimension would appear as some number of 3 dimensional shapes/objects. A single 4th dimensional object of sufficent size could account for all of the universe we see, and certainly all of us.

How many third eyes did they count?

I'll tell a real story...

My Grandpa died overnight at hospital a few miles away when I was about 12. He literally visited me that night and told me about an heirloom. It was Grandma's wedding ring that the family had looked for years since she passed. He said to me that it was "in the china chest" and I could visualize the chest from the room above and one over, where I was.

That morning I was woken up by my Mom and she told me that he died. I said I know, and then everyone in the family heard the story about the ring. A few weeks later, the family was packing things and inside the china chest, inbetween 2 tea cups, was the ring! I asked them if they were messing w/me and they said they WOULD NOT mess w/me.

Mind you, this story comes from a strict "realist". I would discount it completely if someone told this to me.

I have always thought of myself of having an extra sense, like I can tell when someone is bothered by something or I feel like I'm being watched etc. Can't really explain it better than that... Anyways... My grandfather on my moms side was very sick and in hospital and they told him that he only had days to live. He ended up slipping into coma, and I had a dream the night of that event of him asking me to tell my mom/dad to look after my grandmother and that he had a separate investments registered to him that had papers in a safety deposit box at a certain bank. Now there was no way for me to know this information... When I woke up I told my mom what had happened, and she didn't believe me... He passed away the next day. After the funeral I reminded my folks about what he had told me and my mom checked into it, and found investments totaling $100,000. A few years later my grandmother ended up in hospital and passed away, and about 3 months after she showed up in my dreams and told me to tell my mom that it was ok to sell the house (she was living with us near the end) I told my mom the next day and my mom looked at me like I was pshyic or something... She said that she had just spoke to my father a few days before (in my absence) about selling the house and moving out to the country... Still to this day my mom can't believe it! I haven't had any more dreams of people but I have told some people that I had a weird feeling about their health and asked them to go to their doctors and get checked out, only to find that they had cancer or some other critical illness...

I swear to the big man upstairs that this is all true!

I think it depends on how many samples you take per second. According to the sampling theory, the observable sample size is 1/2 of the sampling frequency.

My aunt used to be a winter caretaker for an island summer resort colony of ~100 houses. Hers was the only winterized one. Power was cut to the rest of them. A few of us visited for a new years party overnight stay. We went on a walking patrol, not much else to do. Entered a house where a battery operated smoke alarm was chirping due to low battery or cobwebs. We took it down to silence it and set it on the stairs to alert the owner of its non-functionality when he returned.

Fast forward to that night, new moon, inky darkness. Glowing green light from windows of that building and maybe a silhouette someone in a rocking chair. We go in through the only unlocked door (the others are literally barred with lumber due to ocean gales etc) and find blankets amess in the linen closet. "Squatters" we think but we couldn't have chased them out without running into them.

Reconnoiter outside the house and the light goes off like a switch. It really looked like a reflection on the glass but there was nothing to reflect!

Get back to the caretaker's house and start telling ghost stories. At a pause in the conversation a framed photo (of a church!) drops off its nail and crashes off the wall to the floor.
